The reason is simple , that the research of such kind are normally undertaken by pharmaceuticals companies and this product is not a pharmaceutical product so of little interest to them. The companies that could reap benefit if it proves effective , do not have the money to undertake the  research required. Moreover, most of the acid reflux remedies vary in their utility. Overeating can  cause it and so can also be by lying down after meals. These instances can be termed as situational. So, by not doing that caused it, you are not facing the problem and termed it as a solution.

If someone is getting acid reflux even without overeating, it should be treated as a chronic condition. And , the remedies like apple cider vinegar should be tried and tested to establish its curing properties. Unless it is researched and established by competent authority, it is difficult to draw any specific opinion about the matter.
